Bright app (and meter readings) import export quandary

Hi.

I have the bright app and also download meter readings via the api. I also have solar and therefore export on occasion. When exporting the app and api show a negative 1/2 hour consumption.

Let us suppose for simplification that in a 30minute period I export 1kW for 15 minutes and import 1kW for the remaining 15 minutes. The nett usage recorded by the app and api is 0kWh I believe. However I presume that the actual charge/payment is for 1/4 kWh at the relevant import and export rates.

Have I understood this correctly? Or does the smart meter also agregate the flows over the half hour?

  • Ok I have investigated this and ....

The glowmarkt database accessed via their api initially stores the half hourly electricity usage adding import and export together under the classifier electricity.consumption. When export exceeds import this gives a negative number. A little while later (around 24-36 hours) it records the export data (classifier electricity.export) as a positive number and "corrects" the consumption data to be positive (or zero) by adding back the exported value. I don't know if this is a feature of their database or the flow of info from the DCC.

This behaviour can be seen in the bright app as 30 minute data changes from a red negative consumption bar/figure to green and red bars after 24 hours.
