The GlowIHD has an excellent signal as the nearest AP is in the same room and its the only 2.4Ghz device connecting to that AP.

Is this part of the firmware design?

Note: I did consider an Ethernet IHD recently but their dependency on online configuration was a showstopper for me.

I've recently started experiencing issues with my CAD GlowStick connecting to internet / Wi-Fi but not quite sure what's causing it.

Now I did change my WiFi APs a few weeks ago and this happened around a week later, however I'm not sure if this is related as every other device on my network (including many ESP8266 / ESP32 based devices) have been fine. I've also tried with a separate SSID that only the stick is connected to and WiFi Channels 1 & 6 (20Mhz).

The stick itself when I reboot seems to flash the WiFi LED green for quite a while, and eventually it turns to red.

From what I can see the actual stick is connected to the WiFi AP based on the APs logs. My router also confirms that it's online with an active IP lease too.

I can also see the stick despite showing red for the WiFi LED, that it's actively making DNS lookups to ntp and a subdomain that then is for Glow (.cad.sensornet.info) making me think it might not actually be WiFi related.

Any help with diagnosis would be appreciated.

The National Grid constantly measures the CV of the gas as it's distributed across the network...."

wheras the IHD (presumably) uses an standard factor for both temp and CV differences etc.

What actually is the IHD doing ? and why is it so discrpant from my supplier ?

On the back of great reviews, I recently took delivery of the Glowmarkt SMETS2 CAD.

Overall, I am very impressed with the unit, especially the MQTT facility which enables me to see real-time electricity and gas consumption data inside Home Assistant.

There is however, one major issue for me. This is the apparent inability (unless I'm missing something) to show live consumption for Electricity and Gas on the home screen.

I also have a Geo Trio IHD which shows live consumption or cost as the default display.

For me, the current days consumption is of no real use, except for historical context. I want to be able to glance up and see what I am currently using.

I know that I can get the current live electricity or gas by tapping on either of the day's usage figures, but it's just not the same as the instant view that the Geo unit gives me.

Being able to switch between today's usage and live consumption must be a relatively straightforward firmware modification.

I have been using the DCC Sourced data for a couple of years, and often saw 'gaps' and negative values in Gas usage... (Im using an Integration in Home assistant...which I've modified!).

However, I now have a Glow IHD, and use local MQTT.

But I still see the same 'gaps' in daily data, and it doesnt reset to zero at the beginning of the day (like the electric).

Why is that ?

I didnt capture the MQTT messages, but where there are gaps, I assume thats because the IHD didnt send a 'daily' value (for example, I see a gap at 3pm (strange time!) in the linked image...

The cumulative gas data is correct...in that it only increases, but surely the firmware codeidentifies the beginning of today as always 00:00:00 (local), cant the firmware set to zero at this time ?

https://www.thebartletts.org/GlowIHDGas.jpg

I have recently joined Tomato Energy. Unfortunately they do not push their tariffs to IHDs therefore my smart meter is showing usage based on old supplier rates.

I have installed the Bright apo and have created the Tomato tariff using the custom rates option and this works a treat.

My question is that if there is a way to push these custom rates to the Glow IHD(or any other IHD for that matter)

However the price is just the same as my old EoN IHD.

Using teh peak price all day.

how can i get this to show the actual day/night prices.

So far the only advantage over my EoN one is MQTT data to HomeAssistant, where i can show the data and make up my own day/night prices. Which was not the idea

I want to have the ToU in Glow, works in the APP ok. Then show on the CAD screen

It worryingly hasn't connected to my meter yet, it's still showing 'scanning'

Furthermore, Bright app hasn't had any values from the meter since 00:30 today, which more worrying even. I don't know if the IHD being registered to my account did that.

The IHD is sitting less than a metre away from the comms hub, in the same utility cupbaord

Anyway, I wanted to check if it's possible to see the IHD's firmware version?

I appreciate that Hildebrand has a non-hardware/non-CAD service that acts as a "DCC Other User" service, where their cloud service acquires energy usage from the DCC to expose on their site and through their app. I also understand that possibly because they are a DCC Other User registered entity they can request pairing with the SMETS2 Zigbee HAN for their IHD product. But can these two services be separately used?

I do want to buy a local device that collects the data from my meter over the HAN and sends the data to a local MQTT server. But I don't want that device to send any data to any service outside of my local network (Which I'm happy to block myself if needed), nor do I want to authorise any entity other than my electricity provider to view my energy usage (Mostly because its a proxy for occupancy data for my home)

Does anyone know if this is possible? If I bought the Glow IHD could I set it up/pair it with my HAN without also authorising Hildebrand to get a copy of energy usage data from the DCC. Does the Glow IHD stop functioning if it can't send data to Hildebrand's cloud infra?

I'm thinking of buying a Glow IHD to replace a defunct power company supplied freebie. I'm trying to find out whether the Glow product will show me the actual power usage/cost at the time of interrogation, i.e not cumulative over hours/days/months. Basically to know what my power consumption is 'now' in order to modify my behaviour (tell the kids to switch off things, etc.). I'm not getting any help from sales, they've stopped replying to my email queries. If anyone has a picture of the Glow IHD showing a current usage display I would be grateful.
