I am a new user here, and I have allowed access to my smart meters and I can get data. I have had smart meters installed for several years.

My confusion is that the web page https://glowforhomes.com/pages/property/energy-data says my earliest gas is 4th April 2026 @ 04:30 and my earliest electricity is 9th April 2026 @ 22:30, and this seems to agree with the .csv I can download, assuming the times displayed on the web page are BST.

However, If I use the Bright app on my phone I can see earliest data for gas being 9th Jan 2026 @ 23:00 and the earliest electricity being 31st Jan 2026 @ 23:00. But there appears to be no way of downloading data with the app.

If I try to refresh the data on the web page it swiftly comes back to say "Sorry - we weren't able to refresh you data resources"

Why the difference between the two ? I do not have the Glow CAD, so I assumed the was only one source of data that both the app and web page worked off - located somewhere on the Hildebrand/Glow servers; refreshed from the DCC periodically.

If I invest in the Glow CAD, will I be able to get access to more data, after all, it said in the sign up I'd be able to get 13 months worth of data. So far, that does not appear to be true.

OK, and while I seem to be asking these questions, how is it that the data from my gas meter which reports to the DCC its' usage in cubic metres somehow gets converted into kWh using a fixed calorific value of approx 393.921 which is a factor of 10 too large anyway and never varies throughout the months ?

Just curious.

Hi all,

I’m a volunteer for a small village hall, and I wanted to share how we've been using the glowmarket api, and say thanks to all who have unknowingly contributed.

We rent the hall to a number of user groups and private users, and charge them for their hourly usage of the hall plus electric used. Since we have electric heating this is the larger part of the bill in the winter months. Before this, we were still using a paper diary for bookings and asking users to manually record meter readings on a sheet of paper, for our treasurer to reconcile monthly.

I’m not a developer by trade; I’ve relied almost entirely on "vibe coding" to cobble this together. a Google Apps Scripts that connects the Glowmarkt API to our Google Calendar. It pulls our 30-minute readings nightly and attributes the energy usage to specific bookings. It then populates a dashboard so we can make some analysis of where usage has been attributed, or not and helps inform our billing as well as check for usage outside of bookings.

It’s been working for us for the last 6 months or so, so I’ve shared a limited version of the code on github here:

https://github.com/BasslineSurvey/HallEnergyDashboard/

in case it helps another volunteer out there.

I'm very keen for suggested improvements or any feedback from the more technically minded folks here on how to make it more robust. Or suggested improvements particularly in making any assessment of energy efficiency performance.

Huge thanks to the Glowmarkt team for the API and associated guides and to the community here for the previous discussions that made this possible!

In fact my API queries get the to date squashed to 2025-10-01T23:59:59

I also note that my Android "Bright" app has stopped working too. Looking at your forums, it's clear that something went wrong around that time but appears to have been fixed for most users. Any advice would be welcome.

Apologies if I'm asking in completely the wrong place ...

Following on from an earlier thread (that I cannot find). EON replaced the smart meter in my remote property in December. A recent bill shows that the meter has the same MPAN (which reminds me of comments from my old lecturer, David Wheeler (https://bit.ly/3Z2esvc) - I think I'd be inclined to tie the number to the physical device + s/w config.

Until recently, the meter was recording what I expected: use only during Economy 7 periods (ie midnight to 7.30). However, 3 days ago, it started reporting zero use for all half hour slots. A neighbour confirmed for me that the heaters were drawing power.

Is it common for this sort of fail to occur (ie electricity is being used, but not captured by the meter) It clearly undermines the trustworthiness of smart meters?

As you are no doubt aware there is market wide price change on Jan 1st.

This will have two consequences.

1) the overnight scheduled read will be delayed by the DCC until late rin the day to allow the network to be used for sending the price changes to the meters. This is particularly important for prepay and the DCC target these meters first.

2) If you are a user of our DCC only data service you will know that we do a 'catchup' during the day if you look at Bright or use the catchup api call - this process will be suspended until Jan 2 to reduce the load on the DCC network.

I've had a GlowStick for a couple of years, with a SMETS1 electricity meter that had been migrated to the DCC, but always had a non-smart gas meter. Today a new SMETS2 gas meter has been installed and a module added to the SMETS1 electricity meter to allow communication between them. Will the gas meter data automagically appear in the DCC alongside the electricity data or is that wishful thinking? Do I need to do anything else?

Anyone else noticed that the data in Bright / Glow API seems to be missing a bit of the tail end of the previous day's readings, even though some of the current days readings are now present (the data having been refreshed)

This seems to get sorted by the next day, but is a consistent issue - which is probably why my supplier (EOn) don't update the usage data in their app for a couple of days, when it becomes complete.

I can't believe that it's a fault with the Bright/Glow readover (why would they pull the current day's readings but miss some of the previous day's), so I suspect it's more to do with some problem at the DCC end

The readings from the meter seem to get read around midnight for the previous day, then read again in the morning (maybe?)

However the data is often missing several of the ½ hourly readings for the previous day (This shows on Bright which displays everything)

Sometimes readings for the current day are present, but some still missing for the previous day

It's only later in the day that the previous day's readings may get correctly populated

So by day 2 hopefully everything is there

I've documented this in more detail on the EOn customer forum here

https://community.eonnext.com/threads/9818-EOn-app-2-day-data-lag?p=59218&viewfull=1#post59218

I've put together a simple tool to assess the impact of adding a battery ESS to my home.

In case anyone else is interested in using or improving it, please find it here:

https://github.com/hgomersall/Battery-Energy-Sim

Essentially, you can load CSV smart meter data exported from glowmarkt, add a battery, and add and adjust the tariffs to see what the impact would have been over that period on your electricity spend.

Current limitations that should be easy to fix are: (1) the raw data always uses the default price; (2) the charge rate is fixed at 3kW, the discharge rate is unbounded.

Less simple things to fix are (1) there is no facility for including solar; (2) I'd like to include gas data alongside historic temperature data and CoP data to estimate the effect of using a heat pump to replace the gas heating.

the energyhive solar monitor pages only currently display the overall import/export figures. Is it possible to restore the readings for generation and usage also or is this not supported anymore? I see energeno and diyKyoto are not trading anymore? My wattson optismart device is still transmitting data somewhere? It was still displaying correctly in the summer of 2024. If not is there an alternative or equivalent app or product? Many thanks.

I wanted to create this post to highlight that there is an issue accessing Historical smart meter data (the 13-month history) from Honeywell smart meters.

It seems there is a fault with Honeywell's implementation of the DCC standards that mean consumption data is not getting forwarded onto registered DCC Other Users (of which Hildebrand is one). This is preventing people like myself from accessing our historic records via the Bright app or Glowmarkt API.

I've been made aware that this issue has been escalated with the DCC (who manage the SMETS2 infrastructure) and that they are in discussions with Honeywell.

I would hazard a guess that Honeywell didn't test compatibility with DCC Other Users fully before rollout, but with the ability for SMETS2 meters to receive firmware updates, they can hopefully rectify this issue (but who knows how long that'll be).

I'd like to add that since receiving my Glow IHD/CAD and connecting it to wifi, I have access to the full consumption history from that point forwards just not the 13-month prior history that is usually stored by the smart meter.
