I realised that I hadn't checked my graphs for a while and then found that I have no data since about 2025-10-02. In fact my API queries get the to date squashed to 2025-10-01T23:59:59

I also note that my Android "Bright" app has stopped working too. Looking at your forums, it's clear that something went wrong around that time but appears to have been fixed for most users. Any advice would be welcome.

 I’m a volunteer for a small village hall, and I wanted to share how we've been using the glowmarket api, and say thanks to all who have unknowingly contributed.

We rent the hall to a number of user groups and private users, and charge them for their hourly usage of the hall plus electric used. Since we have electric heating this is the larger part of the bill in the winter months. ​Before this, we were still using a paper diary for bookings and asking users to manually record meter readings on a sheet of paper, for our treasurer to reconcile monthly.

​I’m not a developer by trade; I’ve relied almost entirely on "vibe coding" to cobble this together. a Google Apps Scripts that connects the Glowmarkt API to our Google Calendar. It pulls our 30-minute readings nightly and attributes the energy usage to specific bookings. It then populates a dashboard so we can make some analysis of where usage has been attributed, or not and helps inform our billing as well as check for usage outside of bookings.

​It’s been working for us for the last 6 months or so, so I’ve shared a limited version of the code on github here:

Until recently, the meter was recording what I expected: use only during Economy 7 periods (ie midnight to 7.30). However, 3 days ago, it started reporting zero use for all half hour slots. A neighbour confirmed for me that the heaters were drawing power.

Is it common for this sort of fail to occur (ie electricity is being used, but not captured by the meter) It clearly undermines the trustworthiness of smart meters?

It was working on 5th Jan but I changed tariff on the 6th, since then GLowmarkt has not seen this change. Although the Bright app has latest consumption is still shows the old tariff.

Thereafter First Data read: is not available - shows Refresh data forever, pressing it gives Sorry - we weren't able to refresh your data resources.

I have tried for more than a week. Bright app shows recent data

This will have two consequences.

1) the overnight scheduled read will be delayed by the DCC until late rin the day to allow the network to be used for sending the price changes to the meters. This is particularly important for prepay and the DCC target these meters first.

2) If you are a user of our DCC only data service you will know that we do a 'catchup' during the day if you look at Bright or use the catchup api call - this process will be suspended until Jan 2 to reduce the load on the DCC network.

We have a limited amount of stock of our Wired CADs available again - in case you are interested - these are the last of the device we first launched back in 2014! (The first CAD in the UK - launched before the DCC was available - joining the unit to the meters was only possible with Secure Meters in those days).

This is probably the last device we will do with an ethernet port as there hasn't been demand to justify future production.

After several years of flagging this challenge, we've now been told how to do a remote 'workaround' and can successfully 'clean and restore' your Glow CAD. Contact support to trigger the process.

Please note that this does NOT apply if you have a SMETS1 variant of our CAD and your meters are replaced with SMETS2 meters; that definitely requires a new certificate on the unit which has to be returned to us to do the work and entails a small fee.
